Mike and Maggie Mrachek are the owners of Epic Cycle and Fitness. In 2002, Mike earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Illinois State University. During Mike’s time at
ISU he was employed at Bloomington Cycle and Fitness in Bloomington, IL. While employed at Bloomington Cycle, he learned to work as a bicycle mechanic, customer service representative and bicycle shop manager. Mike also began participating in competitive mountain biking during college while he was helping bicycle shop owner Lehr Hemenway grow the shop into a very successful business.

After graduation, Mike spent a rewarding 10 years as a construction manager. In 2012, however, Mike found his way back to his true passion and has now begun an Epic Adventure! Epic Cycle and Fitness opened their doors for business in February 2012 in roughly 1,800 square feet of space on Main Street in McHenry. In just over one year, the success of the business dictated that they relocate to a facility over double in size of the original store located on the highly-traveled Route 31.

Mike, his wife Maggie and their son Dylan have also relocated. In 2013, the family decided to move back to McHenry where Mike grew up. They are proud to be both residents and business owners in McHenry. Mike has become involved in many facets within the community. He is very active with the McHenry Chamber of Commerce. Mike is on the Fiesta Days Committee Board, the Young Professionals Development Team and The Men of Monday Night Committee. During the summer, Mike also spends many hours volunteering for McHenry’s Fiesta Days.

Mike is also involved with other organizations within the community. He is an active member of the McHenry County Bicycle Advocates in which he heads up the Bicycles for the Needy Donation Program. He is also a member of the McHenry County Bicycle Club. In 2013, with the help of some avid cyclists, Mike created a ride club called Epic Riders. This is a social ride club which anyone is welcome to join. Within the ride club are the Epic Cycle and Fitness sponsored bicycle race teams. The teams consist of Mountain, Road, BMX and Cyclocross.

Mike and his family have devoted a lot of time and energy to see the success of Epic Cycle and Fitness. They strive to build their business through long term relationships with their customers. They are focused not only on providing quality products to the community but also on providing outstanding, high quality customer service. The Mrachek family is proud to call McHenry home and look forward to being active members of the community for many years to come.
